Performative Composites: Sailing Architecture

I conceived and curated a major event at the USC School of Architecture regarding the latest innovations in sailing and architecture titled “Performative Composites: Sailing Architecture.” Participants included international experts in the fields of sailing, design, engineering, and fabrication including Greg Lynn of Greg Lynn FORM, Bill Kreysler of Kreysler & Associates, Bill Pearson, Technical Director of North Sails, Kurt Jordan, Structural Engineer for Oracle Team USA, Fred Courouble of Courouble Design & Engineering, Lynn Bowser, Owner of Westerly Marine, and Bruno Belmont, the Director of Product Development at the Beneteau Group. The composites workshop included two days of hands-on projects led by composites industry professionals. The exhibition included the design of an America’s Cup AC 72 catamaran and its massive carbon fiber hydrofoil, the design and fabrication of Greg Lynn and Fred Courouble’s GF 42 trimaran, and the work of Kreysler & Associates on SFMOMA.
